Bike Parking Products Care and Maintenance

Reliance Foundry’s bike parking products are supplied in stainless steel or with a powder coated finish.

For our powder coated bike parking products, we use a fusion bonded epoxy primer and a final layer of electro-statically applied powder coat that shrugs off the elements. In most cases, regular inspections and cleaning of our bike parking products will help ensure a virtually carefree product.

Cleaning
For light cleaning, rinse with water. Air dry or wipe dry with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

Should dirt from the environment build-up on this surface, rinse the surface with clean water from top to bottom, then use a soft cloth or sponge to clean with mild soap & water. Immediately rinse with clean water. It is very important that cleaning solution does not dry on the surface. Air dry or wipe dry with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For stubborn debris, repeat steps above until clean.

Regular inspections and cleanings are sufficient for most installation areas. If a Reliance Foundry bike rack, bike bollard or bike locker is installed near the coastline (in areas prone to saltwater spray) or in northern latitudes (where salt is used regularly for snow removal), more routine inspections and maintenance steps need to be carried out. The salt and moisture in the air of such regions can create a damaging build up of salt on the bike parking products. This damaging build-up may require monthly inspections of all bike parking products to detect and subsequently remove the harmful residue.

For optimal cleaning;

• It is not recommended to clean bike parking product surfaces in direct sunlight, or when temperatures are too hot or too cold
• Abrasive cleaners, brushes and steel wool should be avoided as they may scratch the bike parking products
• Avoid excessive rubbing or over-cleaning

Reliance Foundry manufactures its products to the highest standards, design integrity, durability and dependability; unfortunately, some things are out of our control - such as misuse, vandalism, improper installation, severe scratching, etc.

Should there be any of these occurrences, Reliance Foundry makes the following suggestions to return your bike parking products to the carefree state in which they arrived.

General
Any loose or missing hardware should be tightened or replaced immediately. If any part is found to be cracked or broken, it is recommended that the product be taken out of service until the appropriate repairs can be made. Contact Reliance Foundry immediately if replacement parts are required.

Metal Components
If the powder coated finish is marred by a sharp object and the steel is exposed, take a fine abrasive material to the area to improve the adhesion of primer and touch-up paint. A quality grade exterior metal primer and top coat of matching color enamel should then be applied over the prepared surface. Upon request, Reliance Foundry will supply metal paint samples for color matching.
