Removable Bike Bollard Stands: Mounting Options
Installation details for removable bike bollards - for areas where a change of access may be required
Removable Bollards are used to divert traffic, prevent access, and define access routes or roadways. They provide protection to critical infrastructures while still maintaining pedestrian freedom. Reliance Foundry's removable Bollards are intended for applications where frequent or quick removal of the Bollard is necessary, and where architectural integrity must be maintained.
7900 and 8900 Series Removable Bollard consists of a permanently installed receiver (aka "mount" or "sleeve") that is installed below grade to hold the Bollard post, with the top being flush with the pavement.
The receiver that holds the bollard is equipped with a hinged lid that provides dual function; when the Bollard is in place, the lid serves as a hasp to accept a padlock and secure the post; when the bollard is removed, the lid lies flush with the surrounding pavement to eliminate tripping hazards.
The Removable Bollard post can be manually lifted out of the receiver to allow access. It includes an exposed locking mechanism using a hinged, flip-up hole cover to prevent unauthorized removal.
Reliance Foundry's 7900 and 8900 Series "Emergency Access" Removable Bollard is now available from stock in Stainless Steel.
Optional Removable Bollard Mounting Kit
Reliance Foundry has a Removable Bollard Mounting kit available for most of our Bollard models. The kit allows for the installation of our Bollards with readily removable mounting, and allows use of a lock to help ensure unauthorized persons do not remove the Bollards.
Our standard mounting does allow for removal of our Bollards from their mountings (using hand tools), but not as readily as with our Removable Mounting kit.
This Removable Mounting System is designed for quick removal of our Bollards, and can easily be converted to our standard mounting option if field service requirements change.
The Removable Mounting System requires the operator to pull a pin from the base of the Bollard before it is removed from its mounting. Once the bollard is removed, the mounting bracket can also be easily removed, to eliminate any potential tripping hazard. Our customers often prefer the bollard in aluminum (if available for the particular model) as aluminum is much lighter for easy removal.
Please note that in order to allow for a quickly removable pin, Bollards installed with this removable mounting kit will not sit as tight against the grade as they would with a permanently mounted bollard. This play is by design, and is minimized by our new cam-lock removable mount design
